A portion of Farrell Road in Joliet will close Monday to prepare for the reconstruction of the bridge over Spring Creek.Work on the bridge is not expected to begin until spring, but Farrell Road will be closed to through traffic between U.S. Route 6 and Rosalind Street on Monday, the City of Joliet said in a news release.Traffic will be directed to Maple Road (U.S. Route 6), Fernwood Avenue/Briggs Street, and Bruce Road, the city said. The closure and detour route will remain in place until the bridge replacement project is complete sometime in 2027, the city said. The bridge over Spring Creek will be inaccessible for the duration of the closure. The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Information about the project can also be found by visiting www.joliet.gov/construction-zone.
